Man oh man this one hurt. Now I think I'm pretty tough. I sat through my first piece two years ago like a champ, only took one break and came away thinking it was a piece of cake. This one? Either I'm getting weak, or I picked a really painful location.
Note to readers:
1) The ribs REALLY DO HURT.
2) Eat something before you go get ink. (ya, I'm dumb, i was late getting out of work)
Anyway, enough complaining. I love it. Jason (you can see his stuff here and here) and I had a rough, loose idea of how it was going to look, but he took it and RAN. While the original idea was for a silver teaspoon, he suggested we go with a warm gold and brassy colored spoon, that can shine through the water. I'm pretty pastey white, so this worked better with my skin. Plus, I loved the idea of a shimmering sea with a swarm of brassy spoons in it.
For the handle of the spoon, I asked if we could go with a soft female look. I didn't want something that looked like it came out of the tiffany's flatware catalog, nor anything iconic like the feminist fist (it just didn't jive with the mojo). We went with a curvy woman's body.
On a side note, as I was walking down the street going to the shop, I got a "Hey baby", then a "Fuck you", when I didn't respond. In my head, I smiled and said "Exactly".
In case I haven't said it before or enough, Melissa, I can't thank you enough for the words.
So here it is (so far)...
